A shim is a thin, often tapered piece of material used in the construction industry to fill gaps between two objects. They are a very useful item and can be used to adjust, create a better fit, or level surfaces. Filling a gap is a common use of a shim, particularly in construction where precision is important. When parts or subject to wear and tear, filling a gap with a shim will help prevent this; they have many uses.

Shims are also known as packers, spacers or foils, they can be made from a variety of materials including wood, plastic or metal. The Pre-Galvanised Steel Horseshoe Shim in this package has an M12 insert space to fit around a bolt of the same gauge and comes in a package of 50 items. Each shim is 50mm x 50mm and is available from 1mm to 3mm in depth and is constructed from pre-galvanised steel.
