Even in the most well-regulated play areas, accidents can still occur, making it crucial to ensure access for emergency service vehicles. An ambulance needs an opening of at least 2.15 metres to pass through comfortably. The PlaySecure® machine access gate kit not only meets this requirement but exceeds it!
The PlaySecure® machine access gate is included in First Fence's RoSPA-compliant range, designed to prevent accidents and ensure child safety.
The PlaySecure® Machine Access Gate Kit is 1.2 metres tall and 2.9 metres wide. Constructed from pre-galvanised steel and coated with a polyester powder in standard red or yellow, these gates are designed for dig-in installation. They are intended for use with RoSPA-compliant bow top fencing, such as First Fence's EnviroRail® bow top Play Sec railing.
All gates and fencing used to border parks, play areas, and other child-focused locations must adhere to numerous regulations to ensure child safety and prevent accidents. First Fence's PlaySecure® range is designed specifically to meet these requirements.
The PlaySecure® gate features a double-leaf design with a 1.2m wide primary leaf and a 1.7m wide secondary leaf, totaling 2.9m in width. This easily meets the 2.15m opening requirement for emergency vehicle access. The gates have a universal swing direction, determined by the retrofitting of the slam plate. It is recommended that the gates swing outward unless a hazard is present, which also helps prevent unleashed dogs from entering the play area.
The PlaySecure® gate features a 40mm gap between the gate leaf and the post, effectively preventing hand or finger trapping. Given that the recommended clearance is greater than 12mm, the PlaySecure® machine access gate from First Fence easily meets this guideline.
Each gate in the range is equipped with an integrated self-closing mechanism, allowing it to close and latch automatically. The speed of this self-closing feature is adjustable to ensure the closing action does not exceed the five-second recommendation, providing ample time for a child to pass through without being struck by the gate leaf.
The safety tethers ensure the gate remains secure in the rare event of a hinge failure, preventing it from falling and potentially causing serious injury to a child. This feature ensures compliance with BS EN 12604 standards.
The gate has very smooth edges and a vibrant polyester powder-coated finish, enhancing its sleek appearance. This coating serves to inhibit rust formation, which not only poses a hazard in itself but also signals potential structural degradation over time, compromising safety.
Strong 13mm self-adhesive 3M tapered rubber pads are supplied to deaden noise and reduce the risk of finger entrapment. Position them above 700mm from the ground as per safety recommendations.
The double leaf gate comes with a drop bolt to keep the gate securely in place. It is a padlockable maintenance gate that allows reliable access control, offering authorised machine or vehicle access and denying any unauthorised entry.
