When drilling into tough materials like brick, concrete and stone, a specific drill bit designed for masonry will be needed to do the job efficiently. Wood or metal drilling bits cannot be used to drill holes into such hard substance, you must use a masonry drill bit.
This SDS drill bit (slotted drive shaft) measures 16mm in diameter and 210mm in length and is locked into the drill by notches and this gives it an advantage over a cylindrical connection; this firm connection ensures that the drill withstands the force when drilling into hard substances
This bit has a tungsten carbide tip for effective drilling and the tip stays sharper longer standard steel drill bits. Masonry drill bits have an easily recognisable arrowhead-shaped head. In appearance they are like twist drills and have a somewhat more compact corkscrew shape.
The tip of the drill bit is of a larger diameter than the rest of the bit, this ensures that when the shaft of the drill bit reaches the hole it will fit into it snugly. By drilling at a lower speed you will stop any overheating.
Designed for use with SDS+ rotary percussion/hammer drills. They can be used with a standard drill also, however the hammer drill is a much better option; the regular drill will take longer as it does not have the hammering action which breaks up the masonry at the drill tip and depends on its own turning speed. These tips can reduce the occurrence of cracking or chips and can help reduce level of noise during use.
