The HD/K-90 WIL heavy duty load bearing lintel has been created to bear heavier loads than a standard load lintel for cavity walls with a width between 90 and 105mm. This type of lintel features a 125mm wide inner leaf which is suitable for blockwork with a maximum width of 150mm. The outer leaf is 95mm which is suitable for standard brickwork.
This range of lintels is available in 150mm increments starting from 750mm to 2700mm, which allows for heavy duty load bearing over a range of opening sizes for various applications such as for windows or doors.
Please note: For correct lintel installation, a 150mm end bearing is required at each end of the lintel. For example: if the opening length is 1200mm then an additional 300mm would need to be added to the length of the lintel to accommodate the end bearings.
This range of standard load bearing lintels has been made from high quality pre-galvanised mild steel and satisfy the thermal performance requirements of England and Wales’ part L of the building regulations, Northern Ireland’s part F and Scotland’s technical handbook, section 6.
In order for this lintel to support the specified loads below, the lintel will need to be installed correctly.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These lintels have been tested as a composite unit with surrounding masonry and have been built in accordance with BS EN 1996-2:2006. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
