A gate is an important and necessary component of a fencing structure; it allows you to control access of pedestrians or vehicles in and out of a location. Continual daily use and the consequent stress put on the gate can, over time, cause components to fail, particularly the hinges. If you take preventative steps, you can minimise the risks of injury that this situation may cause; the First Fence Gate Safety Essentials kit will be a wise and useful purchase.
The First Fence Gate Safety Essentials Kit contains a 4mm Gate Restrainer and a locking drop bolt. For the Double Leaf option, there are 2 Gate Restrainers.
Gate Safety Restrainers are simple safety devices that are designed to prevent a gate falling if a hinge fails. A falling gate, particularly a heavy, metal product, is a serious issue as it can cause injury to a person if it hits them, and in the case of it hitting a child, it could do much worse. It is installed by drilling a 13mm hole into both the gate and relevant post and then slotting the end stops of the Gate Restrainer into these holes. The Restrainer can't be attached to walls, so the gate leaf and post are essential.
The 4mm Gate Restrainer can support up to 500kg and is manufactured from stainless steel. They are a very cost-effective way of ensuring gate safety in the event of a hinge failure and should be seen as an essential feature of a gate. The hinge will need to be rectified, but the Restrainer will prevent danger and injury.
The Locking Dropbolt will secure a gate leaf in place once it has been lowered and the lifting plate put in place. It is right or left-handed and can be used on a wide range of gates. The sliding parts need lubricating from time to time to maintain a good, smooth action.
Please Note: The Gate Safety Essentials Kit is compatible with any box section gate.
