The Galvanised Mitre Top Bollards, like the other types of bollards they are an increasingly common sight in town and city centres creating pedestrianised areas by blocking vehicles whilst still allowing access for pedestrians and wheelchair users. They can also be placed along the edges of pavements, preventing cars and vans from mounting the pavement in order to stop or park, causing a hazard and even a potential accident for pedestrians and other road users.
These bollards can also be used to provide additional security for businesses which may hold or deal with a lot of high value items. Placing these in front of a business so that the gaps are too narrow for a vehicle to pass through, reducing the risks of “ram raid” style attacks.
Each one of the Galvanised Mitre Topped Bollards has been made from high quality steel, with a zinc galvanised coating which protects the steel from the effects of weathering and rust. It is also possible to order these bollards with a powder coated finish in a range of RAL colours, which can further protect the steel from corrosion.
The Mitre Topped Bollards are quick and simple to install, allowing for many bollards to be installed in a location in a short space of time. Each of the bollards is 1500mm long, which allows 500mm to be dug into the ground and secured in place with the use of post mix. This leaves a bollard standing 1m above ground.
Whilst there are no official guidelines on the positioning of bollards, some of the main purposes of bollards is the prevention of access for vehicles to areas which have become pedestrianised and to provide a defence to buildings which may contain high value goods and equipment. Whilst they need to be positioned in such a way so that the gaps are too small for vehicles to pass through, they also need have gaps between them large enough for pedestrians, pushchairs and wheelchair users to pass through. Taking these factors into account, it would be recommended to have the bollards be at least 1.2m apart, which should allow adequate access.
It is possible to order these Mitre Topped Bollards with a high quality Polyester Powder Coating (PPC). These professionally applied and high quality coatings are available in a range of RAL colours, which can be used to add to the aesthetics of your business, or to increase visibility in low light conditions such as poor weather. These coatings also provide a secondary protective coating to the steel, greatly reducing the effects of corrosion and rust on the steel itself, allowing them to look great for years to come.
In the unfortunate event of the powder coatings becoming damaged, either due to accidents or incidents of vandalism, it is possible to repair them with the use of our touch up spray paints. These easy to use spray cans are available in a range of RAL colours and can get your bollards back to looking great whilst also restoring the protective coating.
