They can also be placed along the edges of pavements, preventing cars and vans from mounting the pavement in order to stop or park, causing a hazard and even a potential accident for pedestrians and other road users.
These bollards can also be used to provide additional security for businesses which may hold or deal with a lot of high value items. Placing these in front of a business so that the gaps are too narrow for a vehicle to pass through, reducing the risks of “ram raid” style attacks.
Each one of the Galvanised Mitre Topped Bollards has been made from high quality steel, with a zinc galvanised coating which protects the steel from the effects of weathering and rust. The Mitre Topped Bollards are quick and simple to install, allowing for many bollards to be installed in a location in a short space of time. Whilst there are no official guidelines on the positioning of bollards, some of the main purposes of bollards is the prevention of access for vehicles to areas which have become pedestrianised and to provide a defence to buildings which may contain high value goods and equipment. Whilst they need to be positioned in such a way so that the gaps are too small for vehicles to pass through, they also need have gaps between them large enough for pedestrians, pushchairs and wheelchair users to pass through. Taking these factors into account, it would be recommended to have the bollards be at least 1.2m apart, which should allow adequate access.
