This standard load bearing box lintel has been created to support standard loads, for either internal or external openings. These lintels are suitable for use on walls that are 150mm in width. Along the sides of the lintel, there are multiple small holes, which act as a plaster key.
This range of solid wall box lintels has been constructed from high quality pre-galvanised steel which is 2.5mm thick. The box lintels have been designed so that they are able to bear the full weight of wet masonry as soon as they have been installed.
The BOX/K-150 solid wall lintels are available in 150mm increments, starting at 2850mm up to 4800mm, this allows for load bearing over a wide variety of gap sizes for applications such as windows or doors.
Please note: The lintels require an additional 150mm end bearing for each end of the lintel. For example: if the gap required to bridge is 3900mm long, then an additional 300mm will need to be added to the lintel’s total length.
In order for this lintel to support the specified loads below, the lintel will need to be installed correctly. Care should also be taken to avoid shock loading on box lintels when used with concrete floors or any other heavy units.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
If the bearing of a heavier load is required we can also provide a heavy duty load bearing box lintel (HDBOX/K-150).
